Why internal links matter
Google finds most pages by following links. A page that is only in your sitemap, with no links from your other pages, looks unimportant, so Google often leaves it "Discovered, currently not indexed".
Links also tell Google which pages matter most: pages linked from many places get crawled more often.
What IndexPedia checks
- Every page in your sitemap, read the way a search engine reads it
- Orphan pages, with no links from any other page
- Weakly linked pages, with only one or two links
- The average number of links per page
How to fix orphan pages
Link each orphan from the page that introduces its topic, such as its section page, and from two or three related pages. A list page for each section, such as all repair guides, links every page in it at once.
