Why it matters
Google Search Console is the only place that shows Google's own decision for each of your pages: indexed, or not indexed and why. Connecting it lets IndexPedia read that status and group missing pages into patterns.
The connection is read-only from IndexPedia's side. It uses a Google service account, a separate key that you create and can delete at any time.
Before you start
- A Pro or Agency plan
- Your site verified in Google Search Console
- A Google Cloud account (free) to create the service account
Step by step
- 1
Turn on the Search Console API
In Google Cloud, create a project and enable the API.
Google Cloud›APIs & Services›Library›Search Console API›Enable - 2
Create a key
Make a service account and download its JSON key.
IAM & Admin›Service Accounts›Create›Keys›Add key›JSON - 3
Give it access
Add the service account email as a user with Full permission.
Search Console›Settings›Users and permissions›Add user - 4
Upload the key in IndexPedia
Enter your property, for example sc-domain:yoursite.com, and upload the JSON file.
Your site›Google panel›Save
If something goes wrong
- IndexPedia says it has no access
- Check that the service account email is added under Users and permissions in Search Console for the same property you entered.
- Property not found
- Domain properties are written as sc-domain:yoursite.com. URL-prefix properties use the full address, such as https://yoursite.com/.
- The API is not enabled
- In Google Cloud, open APIs & Services, then Library, search for the Search Console API and press Enable in the same project as the service account.
What to do next
Google data is read on every run, for up to 1,900 pages a day. After a day or two, open the Google indexing report to see which patterns keep pages out.
