Why it matters
Adding your site is the first step to every automatic feature in IndexPedia: weekly or daily checks, IndexNow submissions, Google data and AI crawler tracking. It takes about three minutes.
You prove the site is yours by uploading one small text file, the same file IndexNow uses to trust your submissions. Nothing else on your site changes.
Before you start
- A free IndexPedia account
- Access to upload a file to your site's main folder: a hosting file manager, FTP, or your CMS
- Your sitemap address, if it is not at yoursite.com/sitemap.xml

Add your site
Type your domain. The sitemap address fills in by itself.
Dashboard›Add site - 3
Download the key file
Each site gets a small text file named after its key.
Your site›Download - 4
Upload it to your site's main folder
It must open at yoursite.com/yourkey.txt.
cPanel›File Manager›public_html›Upload - 5
Press Verify
Your first scan starts right away.
Your site›Verify now
If something goes wrong
- Verify says the file was not found
- Open yoursite.com/yourkey.txt in a browser. If it does not show the key, the file is in the wrong folder; it must be in the same folder as your homepage, usually public_html.
- My sitemap was not found
- Check the address in your robots.txt or your SEO plugin settings, and enter it on the site settings page. Sitemap index files are fine.
- The file downloads instead of opening
- That is fine as long as the address works. Search engines only need to read its contents.
What to do next
Once verified, the first run starts straight away. Open your site's dashboard to see the first results, then connect Search Console and add the tracking snippet for the full picture.
